An audit firm led directly by its partner

Cătălin Mazilu has worked in audit since 2010, after two years in business process outsourcing (BPO) with international companies. He worked at audit firms that are members of international networks before founding Mazilu & Partners, an independent firm that is not part of a network. He has led statutory audit, internal audit and group reporting engagements for listed companies and for Romanian subsidiaries of foreign groups.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a member of the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania (CAFR). He has also passed the CAFR examination for auditing EU-funded projects. He works in Romanian and English.

He founded Mazilu & Partners in 2021 on the principle that the partner is directly involved in every engagement.

Experience. Statutory audit, internal audit, group reporting and controlling engagements in industries such as oil and gas, mining and metals, construction, retail and distribution, consumer goods, security systems, IT services and digital media, non-bank financial services and fintech. Clients include subsidiaries of groups from Germany, France, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, as well as audit firms in the Baltic states.

The team. We work with a network of auditors and consultants, each with at least 8 years of experience, many of them trained at member firms of international audit networks. For each project, the partner selects the team by industry, systems, language and deadlines and names it in the proposal. The same people stay on the engagement to the end and work under the partner's direct supervision; you are told your day-to-day contact and the deputy who knows the file at the outset.

Quality control. Every file is reviewed at two levels, the second by the partner, before any document goes to the client, and the report is signed by the partner. The firm holds professional indemnity insurance (SIGNAL IDUNA Asigurări S.A.).
