What we actually do
The appointment is made in the autumn, so the auditor can observe the stock count. We agree the timetable in writing, the list of documents and an interim visit, and deal with the opening balances early.
The report is issued on time and findings are discussed along the way, with time to correct them. Management also receives a management letter with recommendations.
